Keelway
TMS for LTL carriers · consolidators · final mile

Email in. Rated quote out. Freight moves.

Most cloud TMSs treat LTL as a checkbox on truckload software. Keelway is built on real LTL primitives — shipments with PRO numbers, your own tariffs, density-aware rating, standing linehauls — sized and priced for 5–50 door carriers, final-mile fleets, and freight consolidators. The AI does the clerical work. You stay in control.

Six primitives, in the order your freight meets them

Every LTL shipment in Keelway moves through the same six stages: intake, classify, rate, schedule, consolidate, bill. Each one below is shipped and working today — not a roadmap slide. Two of them do the work dispatchers usually eat: AI quoting from email clears the inbound inbox, and the rating engine prices against your own tariffs — so a quote that used to take a re-key and a spreadsheet takes a review and a send.

Stage 1 · Intake

AI quote-from-email

A shipper emails a quote request. Keelway classifies it, extracts the shipment facts — pallets, weight, lane, class, accessorials — rates it against your tariffs, files the quote in your pipeline linked to the thread, and drafts the reply with the price. You review and hit send.EMAIL → EXTRACT → RATE → DRAFT REPLY · never auto-sent
Stage 2 · Classify

Shipments with PRO numbers & live density

Loads carry real shipments: PRO number, shipper/consignee, pieces, pallets, weight, and dimensions. As you type, Keelway computes density and suggests the freight class — from measured dims when you have them, or a standard-pallet estimate when you don't.2,400 LBS / 320 FT³ = 7.5 PCF → CLASS 125 · live as you type
Stage 3 · Rate

Your own tariffs, density-aware rating

Build tariffs by lane — state or ZIP region — across the six standard LTL weight breaks, with FAK class discounts and minimum-charge floors. The engine finds the most specific tariff, picks the break, applies the discount, floors at the minimum. No SMC3 license, no per-quote rating fees.L5C · 5C · 1M · 2M · 5M · 10M — RATE IT in one click
Stage 4 · Schedule

Recurring linehaul schedules

Define your standing lanes once — “ATL yard → Charlotte, Mon/Wed/Fri, 18:00 depart” — with default truck, trailer, and driver. Keelway generates each day's linehaul manifest automatically; dispatch staffs it with freight like any other run.MON WED FRI · 18:00 · GENERATED DAILY · never duplicated
Stage 5 · Consolidate

Crossdock, trailer building & route optimization

Yard management, a Trailer Builder for assembling multi-shipment linehauls, and one-click route and trailer optimization — loads sequenced LIFO so the last drop rides the nose, with live weight, cube, and axle checks. Drivers see one trip with ordered drops and per-stop POD capture.YARD → TRAILER → ONE TRIP, ORDERED DROPS → POD
Stage 6 · Bill

LTL accessorial billing

The charges LTL actually bills, first-class: liftgate, residential, inside delivery, limited access, appointment fee — plus reweigh and redelivery. Priced from your accessorial rate table, with driver-pay splits when a charge is payable to the driver.LIFTGATE · RESIDENTIAL · INSIDE · LIMITED-ACCESS · APPT · REWEIGH

Around the freight

LTL isn't a silo. Every shipment flows into the same dispatch, driver, and money rails the whole Keelway TMS runs on — LTL dispatch and P&D routing, crossdock consolidation, and the back office are one system, not bolt-on modules.

  • Driver app (PWA). Trip workflow, POD capture, DVIR, HOS, GPS pings. Runs on the phone your drivers already have — no extra hardware.
  • Live tracking links. Public, expiring tracking pages per load or per truck — emailed to a shipper in one click.
  • EDI. 204 / 990 / 214 / 210 / 997 with your trading partners, with retry and audit built in.
  • Settlements & driver pay. Per-mile, tiered CPM, percent, hourly, per-stop. Fuel, tolls, advances, and per-mile insurance deduct automatically.
  • Invoicing & QuickBooks. Invoice from the load, sync to QuickBooks, match remittances against open A/R.
  • Dunning that drafts itself. Aging invoices get follow-up emails drafted on schedule — reviewed by you before anything sends.

And when someone just needs a class checked, the free freight class calculator runs the same density math the classify stage computes live.

Where Keelway sits

LTL software splits into two camps, and neither is built for a 5–50 door carrier. Enterprise LTL suites have the depth — behind five-to-six-figure implementations priced for terminal networks. Modern cloud TMSs are approachable — and treat LTL as a checkbox on truckload software. Keelway sits in the gap.

Read before quoting
  • Quote replies are drafted, never auto-sent. Every AI-written email waits for your review — that's a control, not a limitation.
  • Accessorials are flagged, priced by you. The AI records which accessorials a shipper's email mentioned; your dispatcher prices them into the final quote.

Frequently asked questions

What is Keelway LTL?+
Keelway LTL is the less-than-truckload module of the Keelway carrier TMS. It runs the full LTL shipment lifecycle in six stages — intake, classify, rate, schedule, consolidate, and bill — on the carrier's own tariffs, and it is built for 5–50 door LTL carriers, final-mile fleets, and freight consolidators.
Who is Keelway LTL for?+
Asset-based LTL carriers running roughly 5–50 dock doors, final-mile and white-glove fleets, and freight consolidators who build linehauls out of a crossdock. It is not built for brokers or shippers — a brokerage moving LTL freight should look at Keelway's separate LTL broker product instead.
Does Keelway auto-send quotes to shippers?+
No. The AI classifies the inbound email, extracts pallets, weight, lane, class, and accessorials, rates the shipment against your tariffs, and drafts the reply — then it stops. A dispatcher reviews and sends every quote. Nothing goes out under your name without a human touching it.
Do I need an SMC3 or CzarLite license to rate freight in Keelway?+
No. Keelway rates against your own tariffs — built by lane at the state or ZIP-region level, across the six standard LTL weight breaks, with FAK class discounts and minimum-charge floors. There is no third-party rate-base license to procure and no per-quote rating fee.
How does freight classification work in Keelway?+
As you enter a shipment, Keelway computes density live from weight and dimensions and suggests a freight class — from measured dims when you have them, or a standard-pallet estimate when you don't. The suggestion is yours to accept or override; the dispatcher always sets the final class.
Can Keelway handle linehauls and crossdock consolidation?+
Yes. You define recurring linehaul schedules once — lane, days, depart time, default truck, trailer, and driver — and Keelway generates each day's manifest automatically, never duplicated. The yard view and Trailer Builder assemble multi-shipment linehauls, with one-click optimization that sequences loads LIFO and checks weight, cube, and axle limits live.
How does Keelway bill LTL accessorials?+
From your own accessorial rate table. Liftgate, residential, inside delivery, limited access, appointment fees, reweighs, and redeliveries are first-class line items on the invoice, not manual add-ons. When a charge is payable to the driver, Keelway splits it into driver pay automatically.
How do drivers use Keelway?+
Through a PWA driver app that runs on the phone they already carry — no extra hardware. It covers the trip workflow, per-stop POD capture, DVIR, HOS, and GPS pings, and a consolidated linehaul shows up as one trip with ordered drops.
Is the LTL module separate from the rest of the Keelway TMS?+
No. LTL shipments ride the same dispatch, driver, and money rails as everything else in Keelway — the same driver app, tracking links, EDI, settlements, invoicing, and QuickBooks sync. There is no second system to integrate and no separate LTL database.
